Creating and Sharing a Photo Gallery on Google + - should help SEO
This is a great and simple way to supplement your Google + profile. I plan to do this over the weekend...not just because Rich suggested it (which would be a good enough reason), but also because I'm seeing more and more pictures rank on google. I did a search for one set of key words (for one of my top 10 blog posts)...and lo and behold, ahead of me, was someone's Pinterest photo board. No real content/words, just pictures. And, it was ahead of my well thought out post. So, last night, I created my own pinboard just for that topic and put pictures in there. Now, I'm going to try this idea because I have a hunch that it will rank higher since it's one of google's properties.

There's been a lot of talk on ActiveRain lately about Google+. Anyone looking to stay on top of their internet presence should be participating on Google's very own social network. Why? Well, I'm already seeing my face appear next to search results featuring my Google Authorship photo and, even better, I'm seeing articles that I've shared on Google+ coming up in my personalized search results in Google search (and better yet, so are my connections).
If you're interested in Google Plus, surely you have you read Bill Gassett's featured post about Google Plus by now, right?
Today, I want to show you how to create a photo gallery on Google Plus and how to share it all over the web.
First of all, if you don't already have a business page, I would suggest you create one, it's always good policy to keep your personal and your business posts separate. There is one other really good reason to do this too that I won't go into, but it could be a game changer if and when it goes live.
Creating a Google Plus Photo Gallery
It's super easy to create a photo gallery on Google+. Just go to the Profile button on the left hand navigation bar, click it and these tabs will appear above the stream of posts: Posts-About-Photos-Videos. Click on the Photos tab then find the big red button that says "UPLOAD NEW PHOTOS." Oh, by the way, don't forget to properly tag the photos wherever they are stored and re size them too before uploading (for super easy photo re sizing I use Shrink-o-Matic).
Hold down your ctrl ket to select and add all your photos at once and when you're done uploading them you'll be prompted to rename your album. Dont use the default date and time that is in the title field, use keywords instead!
After that you'll be prompted to share the album you just created on your page. Select which circles to share it with, and if you've been playing nice with your Google+ friends hopefully you'll get a few +1's.
Here's what the photo gallery I created looks like on my Albuquerque Homes for Sale business page:
I think that's a way better photo gallery display than you get on Facebook, don't you?
Creating a Link to Share Your Google Plus Photo Gallery
After you've created a photo album and shared it your profile don't stop there! You should never create content and then share it in only one place. Promote it using your other social media channels and share it everywhere you can think of!
Here's how you can create a link to the photo gallery. This is cool, and it took me awhile to figure out how to do it, but once you know how it's really simple to do.
- Right click on the time next to the post you just created
- Select "open link in new tab" from the drop down menu
- Go to the new tab and copy the URL
Now that you've got the link to the specific post that displays like my screen shot above, you can do all kinds of creative things with it. Tweet it out, link to it in a blog post here on ActiveRain, link out to it from your website or Wordpress blog, include it in your email signature or share it on Facebook. I'm no SEO expert, but I believe linking out to an authority site is good for your site, and linking to your photo gallery is good for it too.
More Ideas for Your Google Plus Photo Gallery
The gallery I chose to create for this post was a gallery for High Desert, a popular Albuquerque foothills neighborhood, but you could just as easily create a gallery of your current listings, a gallery of your video posts, or a gallery of photos of your happy past clients.
Not embracing Google+? Perhaps thinking of it this way will help you get more excited: Google, the king of web search, has created and given you your very own website. They've built it for you, they've siper charged it with INCREDIBLE SEO POWER, they will indexed it for you super fast, and they will give you credit for everything-even other people's content-that you share on it. It would be silly to waste the opportunity.
