San Antonio, FL. 46th Annual Rattlesnake Festival Highlights 2012

The 46th Annual Rattlesnake Festival in San Antonio, FL is just a memory for this year. It had lots of fun things to do: like the reptile show, gopher races, entertainment, food, foot race, classic car show, arts and crafts, kids entertainment, and lots of vendors with all kinds of good stuff.

This was our first time visiting the Festival and I loved the little town of San Antonio which I have driven through a thousand times but never stopped to look at. There
are lots of older homes and buildings which I vow to go back to take a better look at on a non-Festival weekend.

You can take a look at their website here.

Good localism post.  Sorry, I won't be going to that festival.  I don't like snakes.  It is funny, because when I was in college as a bio sci major I took a class in herpetology.  We went to the desert to collect snakes.  Yikes!  I did my share of collecting snakes.  Couldn't do that now.

Toni I run into a few snakes here in Phoenix from time to time - mainly hiking!  I prefer to go the other diretion than where they're headed.  I couldn't open the video link?  It looks like a pretty odd looking snake and I was wondering what it was all about!

Toni, I have to agree with Evelyn on this.  I even had a hard time going in the reptile building at San Diego Zoo.

Now San Antonio, Florida might be interesting as an older town in Florida.  I will look forward to your post in future.

Evelyn - I like to look at them (from behind a glass partition)

Anna - Do you mean the video itself? It seems to be working from my end.

Mary - I will be posting in a few weeks. I find the snakes fascinating.

John - definitely spooky.

Toni-I have never heard of a rattlesnake festival. Maybe they have more of them in Fla. I would only want to look at them from behind glass too.

Hi Toni.  I guess this proves that somwhere, there's a festival for everything!  That ball python in the video was pretty cool -- it looked like it was made of bread dough until it moved.  I like snakes and enjoyed seeing the collection at the festival.

Sharon, I think this is the only one I've heard of in Florida too. I only saw one rattlesnake in the whole festival but I did miss the reptile show.

Dianne - the ball pyton is cool! I love to watch them move around (behind glass, of course :)
