The Long Road Ahead...

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty - Atlantic Shore

Power has just been restored in my little corner of the Jersey Shore, but for many it's going to be a long road.  Many in Little Egg Harbor's waterfront communities of Mystic and Osborn Islands have lost everything.  Flooded homes were evident earlier today as mattresses and capeting were being removed and stacked for pick up.

Floating docks littered front yards and the back end of largoons.  A sailboat even ended up in the marshes west of Radio Road on Osborn Island.

Many waterfront areas are still not open...the bay front are of Barnegat is only accessible to residents, and the police on E Bay Avenue are allowing only home owners through.  Many off those homes are not habitable, and therefore off limits to even the owners.

Here in Manahawkin we were without power since the beginning of the storm on Monday, we're thankful to Atlantic City Electric and our first-responders who have been on the job since the storm began.  Most of all I pray for all my Jersey Shore neighbors who weren't as fortunate as I.

Thanks everyone who comminucated your concern for our safety through phone call and messages.

Happy Halloween!

It is wonderful to hear your power is on.  It sounds like those in power are really trying to get things up and running as fast as possible, but when one does not have power minutes feel like days. Thoughts and prayers go out to all in your area.

Hi Laura, so happy to hear that. It is truly devastating and my heart goes out to everyone who has suffered so.  My daughter is Hoboken and still has no power or transportation.  She had to take a taxi into Manhattan this morning and was charged $70 one way.  Hopefully public transportation will soon be restored.  Glad you are okay.
