Oh No!!! I had spinach in my teeth!

Home Stager with Lasting Impressions Redesign, Decorating and Staging

Today was a "marketing and networking" day.  Starting at 8:00 am I attended my weekly networking group.   Every other week I successfully talk myself out of going and give in to the pile of laundry or the dirty dishes in the sink but today I got dressed and attended and wouldn't you know it!  A new guy joined us and not only does he own a handyman service but he works for several local builders.  I don't have to tell you how great it is to meet someone like him when you own a decorating/staging business!  I'm always looking for people (other than my husband) who can hang ceiling fans and curtain rods etc. (not to mention having an "in" with builders)  I was really glad to meet him!   (Did I mention that I had spinach quiche for breakfast during this meeting?)

Next it was off to Kirklands, a kitchen and bath center, sherwin williams and a local furniture store where I pitched an idea to do an in-store demonstration to their customers about decorating tips.  All were fairly receptive to the idea but of course had to look at calendars, check with district managers, etc and all promised to get back to me by the end of the week.

I got back in my car after the last stop and I was feeling very motivated and excited about my productive morning.  At this time I  took a minute to look into mirror to apply some fresh lipstick and there it was.........do you see where I'm going with this????  A lovely piece of green spinach was peeking out one of my top teeth!  I almost died when I realized that I had spoken to no less than 6 people in the last hour and a half with SPINACH IN MY TEETH!!!  Can you get ANY more cliche than that?????

Oh well, what can a you do??  I guess I made a lasting impression on all of them.  Do you think I'll get the gigs?

Oh yeah...did I mention that the name of my business is "Lasting Impressions?"

Happy Decorating-don't forget to check your teeth!

Missy

Oh Missy...I have been there!!! I think all the women of the world should enter into a universal agreement that if one of us has something in our teeth, or toilet paper stuck to our shoe, or our skirt is tucked into our panty hose, that we have an OBLIGATION to discreetly say something!!! But, what can you do? That's right...laugh and blog about it!!! ;)

LOLOL-I can't believe none of these people were nice enough to tell you about the spinach.  We all have days like that...very funny.

Guess you made a 'last impression'?  Seriously - you weren't just another person who came into their store!  Not long ago I had to attend a class at our Board office.  Spoke to many people there.  It wasn't until I stopped at a store, that someone pointed out to me that my name tag was upside down!  argh

Hi Missy - I think you should always have a piece of spinach on your teeth as a gimmick in your marketing plan. Whoever points it out wins a free something or other :) Still laughing!!!

my word is breadnut...any ideas?

Missy ~ Sorry to laugh, but I can only imagine you going through your whole day like that and then realizing the spinach was there!  I keep a compact in my purse, I think I will use it after I've eaten something out as I tend to stop off at stores too.

This has happened to all of us at some point.  Better to have spinach in your tooth than another saying I heard of recently:  a bat in the cave ... now THAT one is embarassing!!  Great post, thanks for the smile!

Missy, OMG, that was too funny but thank you for sharing your story.  We're all human and that stuff happens to the best of us.  Yep, that was a Lasting Impression alright!  =)  Have a great day!

Missy - Just came across your profile and enjoyed reading your blog.

I agree with Joan S., this was not necessarily a bad thing.  You did make a lasting impression and people usually relate when we exhibit our "human" side.  Hope something positive comes from it.
