Special Olympics fun for all!
Today is one of those days that I look forward too but can't describe in short why, but I love it! It makes me realize that God does help even though we don't always know. Eleven years ago I moved from South Carolina to Connecticut for work, at that time I worked for a bank and it was just before I got into real estate. I have always loved sports and Special Olympics was dear to my heart but being new to the area I didn't know how to get involved again. As it turned out through a part-time job I had made a friend who volunteered with Team Otis and the rest of the story is history. Special Olympics fun for all!
Throughout the year I volunteer for different events; state and local track and field, bowling and skiing events. The skiing is harder for me as I don't ski but I help when and where I can on that day. Well, today is the Regional Special Olympics Bowling event at Silver Lanes in East Hartford. It is fun to watch the enjoyment that these athletes get from competing, which is why I must also thank Mother Nature for limiting our impact from Hurricane Sandy. See last year we had the October Nor'easter that brought several inches of snow and power was lost for many days and unfortunately this event was not held last year.
I wish all the athletes a wonderful and successful day!
