Is Your Agent Sabotaging the Showing and Sale of Your Home?
Welcome to the 21st Century - the world of tablet computers, smart phones and electronic keyboxes.
I tried to show a property last week. Tried is the operative word. Walked right up to the front door and had my
Supra eKEY adapter in my hand, plugged into the bottom of my iPhone so that I could retrieve the key to unlock the door.
But the listing agent did not have the blue box on the door - he had the golden oldie grey box:
The eKEY adapter cannot work with these old boxes. An infra-red signal is sent from the adapter, but the grey lock boxes do not support infra-red. And our local MLS board no longer supports the grey boxes. They should have all been turned in for credit towards the blue boxes.
What's an agent to do?
I called the listing agent and asked if there was another way to get the key. There was not. I could not show his listing.
By chance, there happened to be another home with the same floor plan nearby that we could get into.
And we did.
The listing with the grey lockbox has been on the market for well over a year. Maybe because agents can't get in to show it?
