Do Cats pay taxes in Barrie? Yes, indeed they do!
It has been the law in Barrie for many years that all dogs and cats, are required to be licensed annually. This can be done online or going in and purchasing the license in person. Proof of up to date immunization is required when acquiring the dog/cat license.
The City of Barrie website www.barrie.ca explains that
“The City has established this requirement in part to address the significantly growing cat population in the community and the resulting cat-related nuisance complaints. To date, poor descriptions and lack of identification on cats has resulted in a low rate of success in reuniting impounded cats with their owners.”
So hopefully compliance with the licensing requirement for cats will be positive both for the kitty cats, their owners and all the residents of Barrie!
