Add Some Sparkle, Color, and Pizzaz!
If you're looking for a way to add some sparkle, color, and pizzazz to your kitchen, this is a quick, easy, and inexpensive change that lends itself well to both home staging and redesign projects. No need to call an electrician--if you can change a light bulb, you can change a recessed light into a pendant light.
It only takes about an hour, and that includes everything from reading the simple directions, getting the ladder and screwdriver from the garage, measuring and adjusting the cord length, cleaning the sticky stickers off the glass shades, and screwing in the new fixture.
All you really have to do is unscrew the existing light bulb from a recessed light and screw the new assembly into the light fixture socket, adjust the length of the cord, and attach the shade.
The recessed light conversion kits for this project were $20 each, and the shades were $14.98 each from Lowes. There are other shades to choose from in many styles and colors.
