Dear President Obama and Governor Romney, I am tired!

The end of the Presidential race is near and I am tired.  So are each of you I imagine; as all of the traveling, finger pointing and bickering must be very tiring, just like listening to each of you mock, slander and degrade each other is tiring to me!

I am tired of listening to your campaign commercials about what you will do in the next four years and what each of your records shows you will not or cannot do in the next four years!

I am tired of the nearly endless phone calls I have received asking for my vote from each of you and your supporters!

I know that most of what you say are empty promises, which will be forgotten or ignored once one of you is elected on Tuesday and this also makes me tired.

One of you received my vote, but that choice is only a "lesser of two evils", not a ringing endorsement of you and this also makes me feel tired!

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of spending a week in Washington, DC as a tourist and citizen.  I was privileged to get a White House tour and also the Capitol tour.

I visited the National Archives and saw the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.  I walked the National Mall, stood in front of the Washington Monument, visited the Lincoln, Jefferson, Martin Luther King and Roosevelt Memorials.

Touched the name on the Vietnam Memorial of my best friend in high schools father.  Walked through the Korean Memorial and wondered what sort of hell my father experienced that he never talked about.

I visited many of the Smithsonian museums and walked the grounds of Arlington, watched the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and viewed the Iwo Jima Memorial.  All of this walking made me tired, but proud to be an American.

Each of you have probably visited these places also, but did you go as an American, or simply for a photo-op.  Not knowing makes me tired.

But, at least this campaign will soon be over and we all can get some rest.

Steven - I thought like I was reading two blog posts.

I understand, we are all tired, and those two men are tired more than anyone of us. If they give empty promises, it is not because they want to fool us, it is because they think that this is what we are waiting from them, and I can't blame them and their coaches for telling them that. Watch the media. They are playing that stupid card every day, all day long.

The candidates are in marathon not of their chooseing, but on media's choosing, as the media screams and demands, and it is presented as this is what the people demand from them.

It is unfortunate...

You post about you visiting Washington is just wonderful.

Thank you

Steven:

It has been a long campaign indeed. For the president it has been one long campaign since he took office.

Two days left and one thing is certain, we will all be glad that the excessive campaigne coverage will be over regardless of the turn out.

I think we all share your frustration.  I certainly do.  My biggest apprehension is that no one really knows how to overcome the partisan divide that prevents us from addressing debt, defecit, and all the rest.

Steven:  We still have a problem, however.  On Wednesday, the 2012 campaign will be over.  Wednesday will ALSO be the first day of the 2014 House and Senate campaigns, and the 2016 Presidential campaign.

I am a political junkie, and I am tired of this as well.  Also... being a political junkie... I STILL cannot predict who will be elected President.

By the way... I very muchy enjoyed your description of your trip to Washington DC.  I lived in Northern Virginia for seven years, and it is indeed a wonderful place.

Hi Steve, first of all thank you for serving our country and protecting me and my family, giving us rights to have the previlage to speak our minds on blog posting. Everyone seems to have an opinion and they sure don't mind sharing to the world and I'm also tired. Tired of reading all the negative postings on face book friends which are driving me insane, but I thank God everyday I'm an American thanks to Vets, Women, and Men who serve to protect our America. I've never had the opportunity to visit the wonderful place you mentioned in your blog but just reading it would have brought pride to my heart and big Texan smile to my face. Bless you all no matter which canidate you choose we're still Americans and need to support each other.

FOR ALL OF YOU THAT PLAN ON VOTING - GOOD FOR YOU.

FOR ALL OF YOU THAT WILL NOT VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6, 2012...YOU SHOULD.

REGARDLESS WHO WINS WE STILL LIVE IN THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON THIS GOD GIVEN EARTH.

We are also tired, Just think if we didn't have the 24/7 news channels, we would have to wait days to find out the outcome.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Thank you, Bob, for your comments!  Indeed it is a very special moment to vist each of the monuments that our nation has found worthy of a memorial in and around our nations capitol!  To stand near those monuments and imagine what the individuals in their day felt is truly rewarding!

Yes, Carl; news travels much faster today than it ever has before.  Can you imagine planning D-Day with todays news technology.  CNN would have been behind the German lines at Utah, Omaha and the other beaches with live reports and interviews of the German soldiers!
