HOME STAGING. REDESIGN. RENOVATION
My family and I had a wonderful weekend. We went to the Lake Mary Festival of the Arts on Saturday and we went out and about shopping on Sunday. I purchased more items for our home staging business and decided to create a few more vignettes to display and photograph.
My husband, Jim, calls our mini home staging warehouse my “play room”. Okay, so I’ll go with that; it’s essentially what I do. I go in there to play and create: I’ll take one of those and one of those and a few of these. By then I’ve decided what I want to group together to create a vignette. It's not just me playing though because Jim gets his fun time at the hand of the camera.
Jim tells me I have subconscious recall because when we shop, I always purchase something that invariably matches something else I already have that I long ago forgot about. I’ll go with that too (smiles). An example of this is the photo of a big black and white “artificial botanical” (the language I learned taking interior design coursework). It really means fake flower – I call them dead flowers, I suppose to be humorous. Anyways, back to my story. This black and white flower matches this awesome vase that we already have in our inventory.
If you’re getting ready to put your home on the market during the holiday season (by the way only 49 days left until Christmas), you may want to use the beautiful colors of the season. I would decorate lightly and in items that do not denote a religious preference. You may think this is okay; it’s not in staging because you want to capture the attention of the most buyers. Not everyone has the same beliefs or celebrates the same holidays. Besides they’re there to look at and purchase the house – not your decorations.
The red/black/white vignette is a wonderful grouping and could be used during the holiday season. The other vignette is earthy with its blues, browns, ivory and a touch of deep red. I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoy creating them. To read my other blog on defining vignettes, click here "What's In A Vignette."
