Now that the Selcra Meijer Skate Park is closed, kids may want to try the Naz Skate Park in Brighton, Michigan which is an indoor skateboarding park. They have lots of ramps there.
The Naz Skate Park is located behind the Brighton Nazarene Church which is off of Brighton Road, east of Bauer Rd and west of downtown Brighton MI. Their address is 7669 Brighton Rd, Brighton MI 48116.
I love that admission is free for the week if kids attend one of their SK8 churches (see schedule below).
I also appreciate that they have different hours on Saturday based on the grade of the child so that the high schoolers aren't skateboarding with the younger kids.
They also allow scooters inside the Naz Skate Park. Helmets are required (which as a mother I appreciate). Helmets are available for rent also.
Kids can buy food and drinks while there such as pizza and slushie drinks. Don't be concerned if your child comes out of there with blue lips!
They have games kids can play if they need a break from skateboarding like ping pong, video games and more.
Don't forget to complete an annual waiver for your child.
Here is their schedule (subject to change):
Thursdays:
Open 4 - 8 pm
Fridays:
Open 4 - 10pm
Saturdays:
See schedule below based on grade of child (which is subject to change):
- Elementary Skating 9 a.m. to 12 noon (Skate Church at 9:30 am)
- Middle School Skating 12 noon to 3:30 pm (Skate Church at 12:30 pm)
- High School Skating 6 pm to 9:30 pm (Skate Church at 6:30 pm)

If you are looking to purchase skateboards, scooters and related items like trucks or bearings, then I highly recommend the "Done In Extreme" Skate Shop http://www.doneinextremeshop.com/ or http://www.zazzle.com/ejsdoneinextreme for clothing. Ed, the owner of the shop, was the skate park manager for the Selcra Meijer Skate Park and is passionate about skateboarding and scooters. He promotes a drug free lifestyle and cares about the kids. Ed has a brick-and-mortar store open in downtown Brighton Michigan off North street.
