Celebrating Freedom
Today I was an official poll watcher in the election. And I am so pleased by what I observed. For the most part, people waited patiently in line and chatted happily with each other. Granted, a few people lost their tempers when they discovered that they were in the wrong polling station after they had waited in line an hour or more. But the majority of people were happily exercising their right to vote.
I live in a swing state so voter interest was quite high. The crowds were steady up until fifteen minutes before our poll closed. The atmosphere was festive, including applause for all first time voters who presented their voter ID card.
No matter who wins, I have to say I am proud to live in a county where we have this privilege and exercise it without fear.
