Let me set the record straight, my Español is limited to counting to 10, and a few words you shouldn’t say in public. However, as custom home builders Tampa we incorporate many architectural details that embrace the rich Spanish culture that is so prevalent in Florida. This results in unique one of a kind homes that range from rustic to ornate depending on the details that you select. Here’s my top ten list of features that can make your home say, “Especial!”
Uno - Bienvenido! Welcome family and friends with a radius or arched entry door!
Dos - Barrel tile roofs in concrete or clay set the stage with earthy colors that are elegant and minimalistic.
Tres – Spanish-style architecture features hand-forged ironwork on interior and exterior doors, lighting, stairways and hardware.
Cuatro - Wood Ceilings, exposed trusses, beams and joists all speak Spanish in a down home rustic way.
Cinco – Or, for a more elegant ceiling, consider a groin vault in a walk-way or foyer.
Seis - Saltillo tile or Mexican pavers are made of terra-cotta. They come in a multitude of shapes, sizes and colors and can be used on the interior or exterior of a home.
Siete – No better place to put Saltillo tile than on a courtyard, which further enhances the Spanish feel, and lets you expand your living area outside.
Ocho – Hand-painted tiles add a pop of color and offer a one-of a kind look for backsplashes, fireplaces, or stair risers.
Nueve – Whether it is in your floors, cabinets, or trim…nothing says Spanish architecture quite the way warm wood details do.
Diez – Spice up your décor with Decorative Accents such as vases, platters or bowls, which add a touch of Spanish flair.
With these 10 inspirational ideas, you won't need a translator to appreciate the beauty of Spanish-style for your home! As new home builders in Tampa, we have designed and built our fair share of Spanish style custom homes.
