What do you do with your testimonials?

Do you ask your clients for testimonials?

Do you use them?

There is nothing like social proof.  Stop telling your potential clients how great you are, instead share what your clients have to say.  Here's a few ideas how:

  1. Build a book of customer love.  It is easy to do and makes a huge impact.  You can have it printed out or share it online, I used the site Issuu.com to display this one.

  2. Ask for recommendations for your business on LinkedIn.  You probably have a profile on LinkedIn with plenty of recommendations on it, but do you have a  business page as well.  We set up a business page, added our service and then asked customers to review us there.  We get over 600 hits a month on this page alone.  Check it out here.

  3. Make a testimonials page on your website.  Okay - this may seem obvious, but most sites don't have one.  We mixed video testimonials with written ones and it is the 3rd most viewed page on our site.  This is how we set ours up.

Tip:  Cyndee Haydon of Tampa, FL is a master of getting video testimonials.  She gives amazing service which is key, but she also asks for the testimonials at the right time.  She doesn’t just ask people to review closed transactions, she asks them to review showing experiences as well.  Check out how she does it here – http://www.sandbarstosunsets.com/clients/

I agree Celeste that a testimonial is worth a thousand "I's".  I'm surprised more people don't use them in all businesses.

I use them on my blog, my website, and on our listing presentations.  There is nothing more powerful than testimonials in my opinion.

The blowing our horn self promotion lots of agents, brokers, REALTORS get poor ranks in. Let customers do it and don't keep the real estate testimonials in a dark, hidden file cabinet drawer. Make those real estate testimonials shine, work to spread the word on what others say, think, react to you when it is positive.

Great advice! I love testimonials, and I have a book of them in the lobby to share. Plus the website has them on there too!

All excellent ideas that I need to start putting into practice.  No sense in letting all those testimonials go to waste, right!

Testimonials or what we like to call "social proof" helps out so much, especially for small growing business that rely on word of mouth. We just our social proof is our emails as a footer "quote" and/or directly in our Activerain and Blog posts.

Testimonials are what out of town buyers look for, especially if they do not know anyone who can give a recommendation.

I've used them on my websites for years... always amazed at how carefully people read them. But I also include them in all my buyer and seller and relocation packages, printed out (very powerful to have your clients say it for you).

Our testimonials are live recordings from the radio, which are then published and shared on social networks. It's been tremendously sucessful because it's more than writing, its a voice on the radio which provides tremendous credibility!

Testimonials are on all my electronic media sites, printed material etc. Word-of-mouth and written testimonials are best way of spreading the word and increasing my potential client base

I use them in various ares of my site. It just depends on what I'm talking about. Buyer Testimonials o nthe Buyer Page, Seller Testimonials on the Seller Page, Short Sale ones on the Foreclosure, etc. Sometimes I'll use one in a blog post if I think it fits what I'm talking about.

Great Post Celeste! I am not an agent but a photographer, graphic and web designer and kind of a marketing and advertising guru for agents. I can't tell you how many times I've told my clients do you have testimonials? Some say yes some say, yeah I think so. Makes me scream when those who have them respond to the word "Nothing" when I ask them what they do with them. Testimonials are gold! Especially on a website! If someone goes to their website and they have them, more often than not, they are going to read those before reading much of the other content!  It's crazy as using them could be so simplet.

This is a great blog and thank you so much for sharing it. I hope you don't mind if I print it and show to some of my clients.
