Are you ready to start house hunting in Glenview via open houses? Or are you just a neighbor who likes to know what houses are like in your neighborhood? Either way, open house etiquette dictates that everyone is welcome to have a look at an "open" house.
What happens when you stop at an open house? Well, first of all, you'll probably find one of these three types of real estate agents as your host:
1. The Host with the Most: This agent will likely greet you at the door and may even follow you around the home to point out all the great stuff it has to offer buyers. At the very least, you'll be encouraged to ask questions which this agent will be happy to answer.
2. Sleepy-Time Joe: You won't see this agent greeting anyone at the door. More than likely, open houses aren't his favorite thing to do on a Sunday, so he (or she) may still be sitting in the car waiting for the open house to be over. So just stroll through the home on your own and leave when you're finished.
3. The Gal Next Door: This agent isn't really next door, just in the next room. While not super-involved in the open house, she's still available for your questions.
The agent at the open house may also be looking for new buyers needing a real estate agent to help them find their perfect home; therefore, if you already have an agent of your own, it's a good idea to tell the Realtor® working the open house that you are already represented by an agent. If, in fact, you are currently looking for an agent to represent you, going to an open house can be a good way to find one. You'll be able to see him or her at work and ask questions as well.
If you're the neighbor just wanting to see the inside of the home, go ahead and tell the agent. He'll probably welcome any feedback you can give.
