What Is There To Do In The Mountains This Weekend?

Leaf Color In The Mountains

Are you visiting the mountains of Northeast Georgia or Western North Carolina this weekend in hopes of seeing some great fall colors?  There are still some great colors left, especially the maples that are just starting to turn.  However, when you and your crew tire of driving and snapping picture after beautiful pictures there are still lots of other things to!

Butternut Creek and Friends is playing at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown John C. Campbell CreekNC on Friday Night at 7pm and Admission is FREE!!  A folk group from the North Georgia Mountains, Butternut Creek and Friends have quite the eclectic repertoire - blues, old standards, popular songs as well as traditional mountain folk songs.

If you find yourself in Young Harris on Friday or Saturday, visit the Young Harris College for a 7pm presentation of “Museum”.  Tickets are $10 for Young Harris Collegeadults and $5 for seniors 65+.  Recommended for mature audiences, this witty satire looks at people looking at art.  Art aficionados, culture snobs, skeptics, foreigners, unruly students, lost souls, fellow artists and one beleaguered security guard are brought together on the final day of a group show of three fictitious contemporary American artists at a major modern art museum.

Stay Tuned - there's more to come...

Bill & Cyndi,

Great suggestions for folks to check out.  I love the mountains, the gorgeous fall leaves and the unique events in the area.  We had a place in Sapphire Valley for a few years, it was a blast.

All the best, Michelle

We have a saying up here at 7888'; if you are lucky enough to live in the mountains, you are lucky enough!  We are in a high mountain valley, the Wet Mountain Valley, at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.  They are the longest, highest, straightest mountain range in the world.  Enjoy the day!
