That happened...that really happened. Say what you will about some so-called "talking heads"...there are a few shining examples of a few who are so much more. One in particular, IMHO, is Rachel Maddow of MSNBC. She is one host who never seems to be trying to trap her guests into "Gotcha" moments and always seems to be sincere in wanting to learn more about different viewpoints than strictly broadcasting her own opinions.
It turns out that I missed a segment of her show the evening after the election and Leslie told me that it was important that I catch it on Rachel's blog. Before I had a chance to do that though, a link appeared on another ActiveRain member's post and a friend emailed a link to us this morning. No doubt I'm a little biased because I am so proud of our country and the way the results ended up...well, maybe not so much locally, results were a mixed bag. Voters absorbed all the political stuff thrown at them over the past year...all of it...the good, the bad, the really bad and the ugly...they sifted the information, filtered it, distilled it and then listened to more political stuff thrown at them and just when we all thought we would perish under the weight of all that stuff...the voters staggered into their booths and made their own decisions. Many of them braving horrendous weather and ridiculously unfair long lines to cast their ballot.
Rachel's show featured a segment on Wednesday night that was a spellbinding and brilliant litany of the implications of the 2012 Presidential Election and some history making Congressional elections. Some of us still can't believe that happened...that really happened. BTW, sorry about the 30 second commercial!
