We Have A New Elephant!! Yeah!!
A few days ago I told you about the death of our baby elephant that we foster. Please visit "Our Baby Elephant Died and I Am So Sad" to see what happened.
Well we are now proud foster parents once again! Drum roll please..........

Please meet Balguda...

Here is a little about Balguda:
He was approximately 6-7 months old when he was first sighted by visitors wandering on his own. The calf was crying out, clearly in distress, in fact it was the calf's cries that first alerted the visitors that something was seriously wrong.
The visitiors spent much time watching the desperate baby and it was evident the calf was obviously abandoned and extremely vulnerable with no other elephants in the area.
A pride of lions was fairly close by.
He was rescued on April 20, 2012. Here he is being put on his blankie and being transported:

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO OF HIS RESCUE.
Watch the other orphans when he is brought into the nursery with them. YOU WILL BE TOUCHED!
We are so thrilled to have a new member of our family. Since Balguda is a little older than Rukinga when we adopted him at one month, he is past the teething stage so hopefully he will be thriving for years to come!
