Patience is a virtue!

In the real estate business patience is something that I have had to acquire more of when dealing with clients. As a kid growing up it was the one thing my Mom couldn’t get me to understand or see how patience would actually make things better. Well, Mom, I get it! Patience is a virtue!

I have learned over the years to be a good agent I have to be patient and listen to my clients no matter how crazy what they are saying may sound and ask lots of questions. Along with keeping in mind that everyone is different in what they like, want and need so if I’m patient with them it usually helps the process. This was the case recently. I have a buyer who had looked at a home earlier in the year, made an offer but got cold feet. Well, the property never sold and came back on the market in the fall atYour Central CT Realtor very attractive price too. So, this time they followed through with their offer, unfortunately half way through the process they got nervous about buying the house and again backed out.

This time though instead of being frustrated I accepted it but was really hoping that with a little bit of time (and patience) they may rethink their decision. So, I let them process their decision but when the price of the property reduced again I decided to check in and see where they stood. Ironically I found that they had not stopped thinking about this home and had driven by it a couple more times too. I finally realized it wasn’t that they did not want the home; they had been in their current home for so long it was the aspect of making a change that was hard for them. In the end they wrote another offer (yes, on the same house) and it was accepted. Patience is a virtue!

While not every buyer or seller that I talk will make a move no matter how long they think about it but chances are if they are motivated and you are patient with them as they figure it all out the end result will be a happy one for all!

Jamie, in this business patience is not a choice, it is a MUST.  Glad you finally listened to your Mother :)

Some of us need to practice our patience as we face difficult real estate transactions.  Short sales seem to be the best tests for our patience.

Have an outstanding week.  Enjoy the colors of the season with your camera in hand.

Jamie, people with little patience don't last long in this business. It's a long term proposition for many people and deals for sure.
