National Bonnie Plants Third Grade Cabbage Program

Inviting 3rd grade teachers to enroll in the

2013 Bonnie Plants Cabbage Program

  • No cost to participate
  • get kids gardening
  • inspire a love of vegetable gardening
  • create interest in gardening, healthy eating, and the environment.

  • Bonnie Plants began this program in 2002
  • Bonnie Plants trucks over one million O.S. (oversized) cabbage plants  (2" plants with instructions) to 3rd grade classrooms across the country
  • Chose cabbage for the program because it was the first plant sold by Bonnie Plants in 1918
  • O.S. (oversized) Cabbages produce giant oversized heads
  • Teachers select a winner based on size, appearance and maturity
  • These winners are entered into a scholarship drawing - randomly selected by the Director of Agriculture
  • $1000 educational scholarship to one student in every state
  • Bonnie Plants has donated over 11 million cabbage plants in the past ten years nationwide
  • "Unique, innovative program exposes children to agriculture and demonstrates, through hands-on experience, where food comes from ..... while teaching them not only the basics of gardening, but the importance of food systems and growing our own." Stan Cope, President of Bonnie Plants

I have always had a love for gardening, both vegetable and flowers.

I think this program is wonderful for kids, teachers and their students, that can involvesparents as well.
