Encinitas CA Moonlight Beach gets New Facelift for Summer 2013.
Moonlight Beach is getting a makeover and will make its debut in May 2013 ready for the busy summer season. The old snack stand and restrooms have been demolished as well as some of the walkways leading towards the beach. Currently everything's been leveled but as you can see from the picture foundations have been poured at the base of the hill us increasing the beach area at Moonlight. Where the old concession stand was and some of the pathways there will now be more be sand for recreation or simply tanning, I guess that's a positive, it will be a new and hopefully improved Moonlight Beach.
Many folks don't like to see any change and would just assume keep everything that way, because that is the way it's remembered by them. What about before they came along, before there was any improvement. Just a bluff and down below a beach, before grading for parking, before installed bathrooms, the snack shack and lifeguard building. Did those early beachgoers complain about the improvements that we have come to know? It sounds to me after reading some post on Facebook there are people that don't want to change or intall new improvements from the way they remember Moonlight Beach. I bet when the early settlers saw the road improvements and beach improvements move through Encinitas they echoed some of the settlements I'm hearing now, "There goes our sleepyBeach town"!
A different note the new Encinitas Community Park is also in full swing under construction. I noticed the city has installed some new signage at some of the other public places throughout town, parks, beaches etc. On a funny note with that being said, the new Encinitas community park is 44 acres and will support the new skate park and dog park making this sign soon to be outdated as seen below at Beacons Beach. No skateboarding on the beach, also closes at 2am but reopens promptly at 4am.
