Portofino is a wonderful community in Clayton,North Carolina. It is a 400 acre property with as few as 200 home sites, quite remarkable in todays world of development. There are miles and miles of walking trails that wander through the different communities, through the woods and to the Neuse River. There is a magnificent salt water beach entry pool and an Italian styled Piazza and Clubhouse for the lucky residents who call Portofino home. The trails can be used for walking or mountain biking, horseback riding or golf cart driving. The neighborhood is located a short twenty minute drive from downtown Raleigh, home to many great restaurants, museums, concert halls and is fast becoming a destination city. Nearby there are also some of the finest hospitals in the country, Duke, Chapel Hill, Wake-Med and right in Clayton is the new Johnston medical Center. Raleigh- Durham International Airport is a 45 minute drive as is Research Triangle Park, where a number of residents work. Portofino is in a fast growing area of Johnston County and is just across Hwy 42 East from the new Harris Teeter Shopping Center.
School students using Johnston County Schools are currently enrolled in River Dell Elementary, Archer Lodge Middle and Corinth Holders High School. River Dell Elementary is an Honor School of Excellence one of the highest ranking in the state.Johnston County Schools are on a traditional school calendar at this time.
