Should you take the home off the market for the holidays?

By
Home Inspector with US Inspect

Does holiday time mean break time? More people are staying "plugged in" over the holidays and while they are digesting their turkey, they're on their smart phones checking email, updating Facebook, and yes, checking listings.

Target those serious and highly-motivated buyers (while the competition may be taking a break) by continuing to show the home over the holidays and giving online listings a face-lift. Showing a home during the holidays is not easy though, so below are some tips!

Here's my most recent addition to the print library in the U.S. Inspect Agent Resource Center. Feel free to add your logo and use in your marketing! Just click the image below to customize and use it.

Description: Showing your home during the holiday season can be difficult, but it’s also a perfect opportunity to target serious, motivated buyers during a time when your competition may be taking some time off the market. Here are some tips on how to do it.

We are LOW on inventory here in Cypress, TX!  I agree with you Chrissy! Now, is a GREAT time to put your home on the market, and if a buyer closes by 12/31, they are eligible for a discount on their homeowner taxes for 2013 (homestead exemption).  Great post!!

Great post. Since families with children are generally out of school over the holidays, it allows them time to shop for and find a new home.

Chrissy the holiday season is the perfect time to be on the market here in the Phoenix area. Weather is perfect, flowers are blooming and lots of people are in town.

Chrissy, I guess it all depends on the seller's situation... but I think the great majority of the time it really is best to keep the home on the market if at all possible.

Some people just love seeing the houses all dressed up for the holidays so unless it's a real inconvenience to you, keep your house on the market.

Chrissy ~> only the serious buyers and sellers are out during the holidays which is great because there is less competition!

Some out of town buyers come into town to look during the holidays and taking your home off the market at that time could exclude those buyers.
