FIRST TIME MARYLAND HOME BUYER ON THE RIGHT PATH!
There are times when someone contacts me regarding buying a home in Maryland, we find that they are not quite ready to move forward. Sometimes it's credit issues, sometimes they haven't saved enough for a down payment. I do my best to educate folks on their options and give them the steps they must take to be mortgage ready.
Sometimes when I check in, the folks are in the same place they were when we spoke originally. We remind them of the goals we set and promises are made, too many empty promises. Those folks will probably always pay the landlord's mortgage.
When I work with a buyer who is truly working toward their goal of homeownership, it is the most satisfying of all my buyers. I love them all, but there is something extra special about helping someone to make a plan and stay on the path until the goal is achieved. That day is a huge celebration!
Today I checked in with one such gentleman. He had been referred to me by Bridget Oppenheimer of Keller Williams a few months ago. He was serious, has a great job, knew what he wanted, paid his bills on time. The only thing he didn't have was the down payment needed. He checked around, but didn't have a family member who was able to make such a substantial gift so he could purchase his home of choice.
Both Bridget Oppenheimer and I check in with him periodically....this is the email I got back this afternoon. With his permission I am sharing the email because I think folks need to get what he GOT!!

After I thought about all the money, easily $1200- $1500, gone in just a few days, I decided it wasn’t in my best interest at this time. And to think, I’ve been in the gym the last 6 months getting ready. Oh well, at least I still look good. J
And I’ll look even better in my own condo or home!
One thing I know for sure is that this is a man committed to his goals. He will be able to purchase his first home in the next few months. What a great day that closing will be!
