Opening Day for Powderhorn Mountain Resort is Just Around the Corner. The resort is planning to open on Thursday, December 13th, 2012 for the upcoming ski season. Powderhorn Mountain Resort is Colorado's Western Most Ski Resort. The resort gets about 250 inches of perfect powder a season, and if that isn't enough to get you here, the views will. The ski area is nestled on the north side of Grand Mesa...the world's largest flattop mountain. From here you can see the valley below and the cliffs and mesas to the north. It's a view I could enjoy all day.

Powderhorn Mountain Resort boasts no lift lines, but shh...that's suppose to be a local secret. The resort has over 1600 acres of ski able terrain and and a 1600 foot vertical drop. The glade skiing is fantastic and there is always a secret track of fresh snow hidden in the trees. Powderhorn Mountain Resort has a great website with a live web cam and more information for anyone looking to spend a weekend in our beautiful area.

Good Morning Debbie, i can not wait to head west to ski soon. Our resorts opened today, all man made snow though. I agree with Tammy though, I would rather see spring and i would be ok to skip skiing this year.  Have a great Saturday

Hi, Debbie...we really need the snow, and so far this year we are behind on that. It looks like our drought might continue into the winter, but it's still early and only time will time. I'm going to be positive that we will get the snow we need.

Hi, John...I hope to get some more ski days in this year. I love cross country skiing, too. I use to log a certain number of ski days a year and I was proud of that. But family and business have taken a toll.
