I've put up over 140 posts on my blog. As you can see from some of my past writing.... humor plays a big role in my life. I feel that there is something funny in almost everything in life.
When it comes to my kids, I am extra silly. From dancing with the toaster to one liners, my kids realize that I've never really grown up.
Okay..... so now we have an idea as to what my kids have to put up with.
So what exactly is 'hank', besides a name?
'Hank' is a term developed over time by my kids. My kids have learned that some of the things I say and do aren't always side-splitting, knee-slapping, belly-laughing funny. Although, I think they are! Some of these things don't really call for laughter, but more of a 'ha... that was funny dad'.
Over time, this 'ha.... that was funny dad' was shortened to 'ha' and sometimes not even that but more of a 'heh'.
Again, over time, the 'heh' evolved and soon became a more pronounced 'heh-nt'. This 'heh-nt' would be used whenever I thought it was funny and the kids didn't want to make me feel bad by not laughing. Daddy said a funny... 'heh-nt'.
Well... as time went on.... the 'heh-nt' turned into 'hank'. Again... daddy said a funny... hank!
Now, however, 'hank' has taken on a life of its own. It no longer is only used for dad's not so funnies but is used often with friends, when watching silly tv and yes... still for dad. 'Hank' is actually replacing laughter at times. If an animal comes on one of their shows doing something silly... I'll often hear.... "hank, hank, hank!!" or "Haaaaaaaank!". They sound like cone heads!
I'm starting to hear their friends 'hank!'. They've discussed this and they decided that 'hank' needed a friend and they invented 'suzie'. Now.... if something is funny... but not really funny... they 'hank' but if its not reallly funny but is meant to be... they 'suzie'!
So I'm wondering.... do your kids 'hank' like my kids 'hank'?
