My husband has spent most of the time since Wednesday afternoon at the hospital with his Mother. She passed away this afternoon, so tomorrow we will be planning a funeral instead of Thanksgiving. Not sure I will complete this blog challenge...
I'm still working on my own recovery from bypass surgery less than six weeks ago, so I was not able to be at the hospital with him nearly as much as I would have been otherwise. We were only home last night for a couple of hours when the hospital called him back. Within a few minutes, he called me to say that his mother had worsened and was probably already brain dead.
I still do not have clearance to drive, so we phoned our adult children; our son to hurry to the hospital to be with his Dad and our daughter to come to get me. My husband and I spent the rest of the night sitting in his mother's room, watching her struggle with every breath. Her vital signs were stable for a while and then started deteriorating.
I'm completely worn out, so I'm signing off for now. My husband, who did not shut his eyes throughtout the long night and all day today, is watching a little TV as he tries to unwind.
