ActiveRain Made it Easier to Embed Video to a Blog Post
I was cruzing around Active Rains google and came across this awesome and informative post that I thought this was a must read for our tight community of Active Rain Real Estate Professionals.

The transition was seamless but the affects were enormous. I don't recall exactly when it happened, but I did notice that the bar across the top of our post screen was missing that HTML icon, and that it had been moved to the toolbar. As I do not post a ;ot of videos. (My Bad), it's function was a bit lost on me. While doing a recent draft post which would include a video, the light between my ears went on.
No more first saving a post to draft, then re-opening it to change to HTML, insert the video of other similar material such as a Post-let, then re-saving to draft and re-opening in WYSIWYG, to proof and finish the post. It's gotten so much easier.
To begin: The blog post is started and at the place where the insert is to be made, some representative text should be positioned. For me, the words EMBED VIDEO, in bold face, and centered to the post work best. I always leave a few extra spaces to make it easier to find. Once this is done, click on the HTML text on the toolbar.
This will bring up the HTML editor, in a new window, and then it's a matter of finding the position words, as noted in the second box. Now, the text must be highlighted so that the source codes can be copied and pasted to insert the video or postlet, or any other similar type of information.
Finding the source code information is somewhat simple as well. On a YouTube video, or instance, the share link must be clicked, and then the embed code as well. This will bring up a text box which contains the link in HTML format. Copy all of the source code information, which is easily done by double clicking than right click on the mouse to copy.
All of this is done in the separate HTML source editor window. Once all is done, hit the update tab at lower left portion of the new window, and the inserted material will be on the original blog screen. The post can then be completed, spell checked, amended, etc without going back into draft mode, and making the switch over to review. With the old system, this would have been harder, and from my personal experiences, the new window for WYSIWYG would have been greatly reduced.
This is how the finished product will look.
Inserting the code as offered within the blog post will be far more professional than just offering the link to the material, not to mention that it keeps the reader on your original window, and not lost to view other material after being offered a chance to move away.
With the change offered by ActiveRain, I know I will attempt to do more video work in the future, and if any decide to view that post when it is offered, do more work with a tripod, which I obviously would not have had when I was on vacation.
ActiveRain, offers a lot to make us look every bit the professional we believe ourselves to be. This subtle, but no so small change will certainly help.
