I love to take ActiveRain University classes, especially those with our own Bob "yer cheatin' heart" Stewart. He gave a fantastic class about writing market reports and neighborhood posts last Friday. No one loves a good market report more than I do... well, maybe I am pulling your leg there. I write them, I spend a lot of effort writing them, I hate writing them, but I believe they are a totally necessary evil.
Why you ask? Here are just a few of my reasons why I do market reports.
- Google MILK and lots of it.
- I send the market reports to clients with listings.
- Makes me understand my markets even more.
- I use them in my listing presentations.
Bob also spoke about neighborhood posts. I resist this one as I am in a fairly rural area, the smaller towns often don't have subdivisions. Some of the older subdivisions have names that were forgotten years ago and no one can tell you to this day what the name is. Seriously. But his post jogged something in the dark recesses of my mind.
A long time ago, in a land far, far away I had a condo listed so I posted about the complex here on ActiveRain. That was in 2009. I still get calls from people, fewer in between than they used to be, but I will still get them. I decided to go back and look at the stats on that, and other posts. It is one of my all time highest for clicks. Wow, are you serious? It was a fairly lame post, IMHO, no humor, only one photo, not my best.
After the class with Bob "the slave driver" Stewart, I realized it is time to get cracking on these neighborhood posts again. And, the best part? Bob wrote it for us, seriously! What a guy! Check out the post Hyper local and market report blog templates. It is right there for you, amazing!
Bob Stewart is always making me work more.... I am not really sure how I feel about that Bob, but I like you anyway. At least this time he is also making me work smarter and not just harder! I almost feel like its cheating, he made it that easy for us.
Now get your mind out of the gutter, what did you think I meant when I said I was cheating with Bob Stewart? Really...
