According to MSN Money, the national housing market recovery is holding tight. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported that existing home sales rose by 2.1 percent last month. This is very exciting because it beat the forecasts that most Wall Street economists had made. Additionally, the article does bring up the importance of new jobs to further improve the recovery.
Specifically in the Northeast, however, home sales have fallen due to superstorm Sandy and the storm still continues to affect the sales data. In Dutchess county, NY, we were not as affected by Sandy as those downstate. As recent reports have mentioned, Dutchess homes are selling but prices have not risen yet.
