$8 Window Treatments. No Kidding.

By
Real Estate Agent with Dove Realty Inc.

This is Part II of "Window Treatments to the Rescue."

Now, I know this is not on par with the window treatments that Scarlet O'Hara ripped off the wall and transformed into a frock to impress Rhett Butler, but...

They do the trick when it comes to blocking out a parking lot without blocking the light. They're 36 inch wide fabric Redi Shades installed horizontally as opposed to vertically. I trimmed them down to fit the height I needed, pulled off the sticker, stuck them to one side of the window jam and then used 3m Command Adhesive Strips to attach them to the other side of the window jam. In this application I used two sets. Be sure and get the fabric shades because the paper shades are too wimpy.

This is a very clever idea Susan.  It seems very simple too.  The view is much better now and you didn't have to completely cover the windows. Very cool.

Kathy: We certainly don't need to focus on the parking lot.

Terrylynn: You know what they say "Necessity is the mother of invention.

Lisa: You can cut them to fit just about any window too.

What a bargain!  It is so nice to just see the trees outside the window instead of the curb.  Great choice!

Maureen: This is the little complex that I was talking about when I asked you for a staging estimate. Thanks for your feedback.

Ardell: Sometimes 1 little turn makes all the difference.

Sara: I know how to sew but since it's one of my least favorite past times I usually staple, nail, hot glue or anything else I can think of. I think I came up with this idea just to get out of sewing.

Lynn, Judy and Patricia: Thanks so much for taking a look. This technique works really well in city too with the houses being so close together.

Kristina: That's why I recommend bottom top shades to my clients when they are moving into a new home. This is just a faster cheaper version.

Phyllis:  I got these at Fred Meyer. It's a local variety store but several people have commented that they can be found at K-mart, Lowes and Home Depot.
