Christmas tree permits cutting colorado - woodland parkI can’t believe it’s already that time of year: It’s time to get your christmas tree cuttin’ permits.

Just like every year -  so good to see that some things DON’T change!!

It’s a tradition in our family. A permit costs $10 per tree and you can get a pretty decent tree, especially if you go early in the season. Can you see ours on the blue truck?! Yeah. We have high ceilings and especially my ‘boys’ are determined to utilize every inch of that space.

Permits go on sale November 26th through December 12th. Simply go

Pikes Peak Ranger District Office

601 S. Weber St.,

Colorado Springs, CO.

between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

Call: 719-477-4221 or 636-1602

$$$$$:     Bring cash or check – no credit card accepted and you can get up to 5 permits per person – so ask your friends if they’d like to come along! But no worries if you didn’t make it to the district office during the week, permits are being sold at Woodland Park Middle School parking lot on Dec. 1 and 2, as well as Dec. 8, and 9 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.

christmas tree cutting permit colorado Springs 2012When?     You can cut your tree(s) any time after you purchased your permit(s) until December 12th.

Where?     Sometimes the tree cutting areas change. Take a look at this PDF map to see where to go. When you buy your permits, the Ranger District office will also have maps – ask them all the question you might have! Make sure you also check with them about road conditions. 4 Wheel Drive is required.

How?       You can’t use chainsaws and you can only cut trees up to 6 inches at the trunk end – cut your tree as close as possible to the ground. Be prepared for winter weather. Also consider that around 4pm it starts getting dark and you really should plan to have found your tree by that time and be on your merry way home.

Tie your permit  visibly to the tree as you load it –

Dear Susanna,

Once a wise woman told me "MAKE MEMORES" and this would certainly fit that bill - wouldn't it? How wonderful for a familyto do this together!

Have a happy day -

This  is something I wish I could get my frineds and family to do- unfortunely no one wants to drive to out of the city to do it , so we settle for the next best thing buying our precut tree at the local farmers market.  Thanks for sharing you family outing with us.  Happy Holiddays...

Susanna, we have already seen a lot of cars with their roof trees here but no snow yet. I can recall a few years when we did the fresh cut on a tree farm, it was interesting as we too have high ceilings
