Thanksgiving morning there were over 21,000 walkers, runners and trotters that showed up for the Twenty Second Annual Thundercloud Turkey Trot in downtown Austin, Texas!
The race started on the South First street bridge and continued along West Fifteenth and West Cesar Chavez and finished in front of the Long Center on Riverside Drive. The 5 mile run is the largest race in Texas.
I swung by and picked up my granddaughters and we met our son, wife and newest grandson Hudson at the starting line (he slept through all 5 miles)! Many Austin families and friends start their Thanksgiving Day off by pounding their feet on the pavement through downtown Austin.
Some participants were dressed in costumes and all had choices of a one mile or 5 mile run (we did the 5 mile)! Even dogs were dressed up..what a sight to see! The weather was perfect…..just a little chilly to start off but the sun was out, clear skies and everyone was in great spirits!
My broker Vanessa was there with her family and friends and even snapped a picture of all of us. What a great way to begin Thanksgiving Day with family and friends!! The event raises money for Caritas, a charity which gives back to local people in need!
In the Men’s Division Andrew Letherby, Lorin Wilson and Chris Galvin finished first, second and third. In the women’s division the top finishers were Kelly Williamson, Jennifer Bergman and Emily Duam.
Kudos to everyone..2012 Annual Turkey Trot was a day to remember!
