Here is the first post in the series The Street Where You Live. I am starting with the streets in Interlaken Gardens, a beautiful garden style cooperative apartment complex located in Eastchester, NY just 30 minutes from Grand Central Station.
Whitehall Road is a dead end off California Road. Easy to find, it is the first street on the right coming in from White Plains Post Road or the last street on the left coming in from California Road. Most of the buildings on this street are only two stories. A unique feature is backing up to Eastchester High School. The school track is at the end of Whitehall Road. It is wonderful to hear the sounds of the games being played throughout the school year.
Addresses 1 through 9 are all two story buildings and have the high school behind them. Across the street, addresses 16 through 26 feature a central courtyard while 6 through 14 feature the duplex apartments. 6 Whitehall Road has two of only six three bedroom apartments found in Interlaken with the first floor unit sporting a beautiful side patio that is enjoyed by all coming by. Most of the first floor units have outdoor patios that are part of the common grounds. Addresses 2 and 4 feature beautiful landscaping that offers privacy to the patios facing these buildings. The walk to your front door is serene.
