The Olympia Toy Run 2012 is just around the corner, and this annual event has become a community favorite during the holiday season.
Where else can you see thousands of motorcycles (yes thousands - I read that last year was around 18,000 participants!) and their riders decked out with Santa hats, reindeer horns, and other holiday finery? And where else can you watch them vroooom through the streets with their cargo of stuffed animals, dolls, and toys of all shapes and sizes? And where else can you get that warm feeling, knowing that all those toys will be donated to Salvation Army for distribution to area kids who are going to have a much more exciting Christmas, thanks to the generosity of many.
The 2012 Olympia Toy Run participants will gather at South Sound Center on Saturday, December 1st starting at 10 AM - an amazing sight for sure! Then at 1:00 they will leave South Sound to head down Pacific Ave into downtown Olympia, turning onto Capitol Way, then onto 5th Ave and bending onto Deschutes Parkway for the end point at Marathon Park.
This will be the 35th year for the Olympia Toy Run and it seems to get bigger each year - don't miss watching, waving - and maybe donating a toy or some cash yourself! Happy Holidays!
