And Now It's Time for Polar Bears!

Polar Bear

Photo - Explore.org

In August and September, the folks at Explore.org treated us to live webcam action of brown bears feasting on the annual salmon run at Katmai National Park in Alaska (and in fact, the three webcams there are still operating and you can still catch some action as the bears finish topping off for the long winter nap ahead).

Now, it's time for the annual polar bear migration in Churchill, Manitoba, and once again, Explore.org is on the scene, with three more live webcams - one from their tundra buggy, one from the tundra buggy lodge, and one from Cape Churchill. The action from these top-of-the-whole-shooting-match-foodchain predators is fantastic to watch. There are young males mock-fighting, lots of moms and cubs, and even some arctic foxes wandering around. Best viewing hours are 10 AM to 4 PM CST.

Hi Dick, I love watching the live feed of the bears.  I watched the brown bears catching salmon earlier this year, in fact everyone at the office watched with me.  I will have to take a look at the polar bears.  Thanks for sharing!  --Krystal

Pretty neat.  Didn't see a Polar Bear when I logged in, but a really bushy tailed fox sniffing around for something.

Dick, I loved the brown bear cam!  The polar bear looks so cold, but I guess thay don't mind it as much as I would.

Good morning Dick. I just watched this for a few minutes and it is fascinating. The wind noise makes it very eerie, but I appreciate the information and the link. Enjoy the day.

So cool huh? These webcams sure bring nature to our doorstep. When I lived in Kodiak Ak, I had some nearly too close moments to the huge Kodiak Brown bears, let's just say I have a very deep respect for them - and prefer to be far away when viewing their antics.
