Do You Have a Real Estate Website? Tell Us About It!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with ActiveRain

Real estate websites, most of you have one. You know, that amazing little place where consumers can go and find their next home. We'll call them IDX sites. IDX is how you get all those fancy listings from the MLS over to your website. It's a feed that allows you to display the listings from all the cooperating brokers in your MLS on your own website.

IDX websites come in all shapes and sizes. There are a ton of options available to you out there when deciding which company you want to provide your IDX website. From region to region and MLS to MLS those options vary. There are some major players in the IDX arena. These companies have coverage across the majority of MLS's in the country. In each region of the country there are more regional players. But I promise, if you are looking for a new IDX website, their are plenty of options.

We want you to tell us about your IDX.

Do you love it? Why? Do you have it? Why? Could you take it or leave it? Does it have every bell and whistle imaginable? Is it stripped down with the sole purpose being converting traffic into leads? Would you suggest it to everyone and anyone thinking about getting a new IDX website? Would you tell your closest friends to run for the hills and suggest it to your worst enemy?

No matter your take on your IDX provider, we'd like to hear about it. ActiveRain Product Reviews is a way for you to share your experience with the next person looking for a similar product.

The Focus on IDX Websites

This week our ActiveRain Product Reviews Newsletter will focus on IDX websites. But it's only as good as the reviews you give us. So spare a few minutes to share with your fellow Rainers what you love (or hate) about your current IDX provider.

A Few of the Players

Below are a few of the IDX website providers that have already been added to the site. Please take a minute to click on the IDX website provider that you have used and give us your honest feedback.

If you don't see your IDX provider represented below, check out the full list of IDX providers that we currently have on the site. If you don't see your IDX provider included on that list, you can add it to Product Reviews here.

My IDX site is quite popular with folks who tour it in the comfort of their own home.  I've incorporated an IdX site on my web sites since about 2000 when one was first offered by my MLS.  IDX sites on the Internet are PULL advertising at their very best.  Folks can search homes for sale at will with no need to speak with an agent.  They are, however, if they register for daily updates sent mail when ever there is a new listing that meets their criteria.  I also get a copy of the mail they receive.  There are about 4,000 in the system at this time.

Which IDX is the big question, I recently left RE/MAX who spoiled us and after starting my own Brokerage i used Linku but I'm not satisfied I don't have foreclosure or subdivision in my drop down search buttons, I used word-press IDX years ago and loved it. I'll be reading your comments and searching for my next CHEAP IDX. Thanks AcctiveRain

I'm surprised not to find Agent IDX among your list of IDX products to review.  I looked at what IDX products have been reviewed and didn't find it.  So, I wrote this review ... http://activerain.com/product-reviews/technology-products/web-sites-personal-idx/agent-idx/134  Agent IDX is what makes my website tick.  Integration has allowed me to generate many visitors, and convert them to leads, some of which have resulted in sales!!!

It is great to be part of the herd but stand alone anything in media to showcase your area, your property listings and to go easy on your brand in the marketing mix.

I use Diverse Solutions and I get far more rental leads than I do buyer leads and I'm not happy with that, but I'll take responsibility for that. When I was blogging more on my site, I got more buyer traffic.

Thank you everyone for the comments so far. No matter what you use, take a minute to go over and review the product. This will help some people like Richie, who when he decides to take the plunge, be able to make an informed decision about which IDX to use.

Richie,

IDX stands for 'Information Data eXchange'. Basically it is the way agents are able to take the property information from the MLS and display that property information on their own website. Because most consumers thinking about buying a new home ultimately want to see which properties are available at the end of the day, it becomes an invaluable tool for being able to display properties on your website and get consumers the information about properties for sale in any given MLS..

......or something like that :-P
