Please Speak Slowly and Clearly So I Can Return Your Phone Call

Please Speak Slowly and Clearly So I Can Return Your Phone Call - Call me Michael Jacobs at 818.516.4393 cell

It’s typically the kind of voicemail message we all hope to receive.

I found you on the internet, the caller name is Kinda Garbled First Name and Undetectable Last Name.    I’m calling to find out the Condo You Mentioned(I could determine after a couple of playbacks), please call me at 323(one of our many local area codes) or was it 623(Arizona as I learned) 55x-ya26 or was it -36?

If only she had called me on my cell phone and I could have more easily captured or answered the phone when she called.    I tried a couple of different variations to no avail.

Anyway, this was a good lesson for me -- speak slowly and repeat my name and phone twice in as succinct a manner as possible.   I have a feeling this could be a good reminder for all of us.

Michael Jacobs is a Realtor serving Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley as well as the adjacent Northeast Foothill communities within the city of Los Angeles and can be reached at 818.516.4393 cell or     Search for properties online at      I really do look forward to speaking to you.

You said it!  I have often listened to messages 4 and 5 times and still am unable to grasp what they are telling me.  I defnitely speech slowly and clearly when I am leaving my contact info on messages!

I have been getting messages like this from agents recently.  They speak either way too fast that I feel like trying to capture their phone number is like trying to catch the plate number on a car whizzing past at a 100mph or they mumble.  Either way, speak clearly and slow enough for us to get the info.

It seems so obvious, and yet we all get these calls.  It's frustrating!

One of my pet peeves is when someone calls from one number and leaves another number to which you are to return the call. Sorry, then, it will have to wait until I am somewhere I can write it all down.  How much easier it would have been to hit "redial" which I can do with a couple of fingers!

It is uber annoying to have to keep replaying a message in order to capture a number...sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 tries!

That is a good reminder, I , too, have to play the message back over and over until I get all the info.  Though I try to speak slowly when I leave a message, I never though about going ahead and saying my number twice so they have another chance to get it - good idea!

Michael, happens to many of us - though fortunately, sometimes we can get the contact# from calls log. Is it true all the time? I'd say, at least half the time, we know what phone number it is...

So true. Nothing more frustrating than replaying a message half a dozen times to come to the conclusion it's just not understandable.

Yeah, no kidding.  I ask that they please repeat the number.  I guess everybody thinks it may be captured in call waiting, which it is sometimes, but when I call back I want to address someone by name...

Leilani - both repeating your telephone number and not using a blocked number are very good ideas.

Joy - it can be frustrating - very frustrating.

Sharon - I know!  I know!

Susan - I replayed and replayed the message and tried calling multiple combinations of numbers - yikes!

Brenda - I try to remember to say my name and number in the beginning at at the close - you never know when you may be cut off.

Joyce - I am always hopeful

Praful - if someone calls my cell phone, the number is typically captured.   This caller left a message on my office telephone voicemail - not captured.

Debi - it really seemed like a waste of time.

Gary - you're right it's always nice to be able to address someone by name when returning a phone call

Hi Michael - I hate it when that happens. Mary and I sit around trying to decode whatever was said, but even with two of us, we seem to miss more than we figure out.

Hi Dick - it can be challenging to say the least especially when it's the initial and perhaps only call we may receive from them.

Michael, I am one of the worst on talking fast, I try to remember to slow down when I am leaving a message. This is a good reminder for that.

Michael, I agree with you I just had a similar situation they repeated my listing twice and then garbled their phone number once, ironically it was a private number I have tried every which way and no result just like you!

Good Evening Michael,

This one definitely speaks to me. It happens more than we realize.  The one simple practice that callers seem to overlook it that they can listen to the messagr

This is always one of my biggest pet peeves.  Especially when they never repeat the phone number so I have to replay it and replay it.  I hope that you are returning to us soon.
