All in one day, wouldja believe...

Early start for Nov 28, 2012. Lots to do. Early on to social media to attack my backlog.

No frost, so van started easily to get me to the University of Utah for an appointment at the Behavioral Sciences building, on a great campus on the east side of Salt Lake City UT. Vague ideas of where to go ~11th floor near the Marriott Library: just pick the tallest building! You bewdy, Mate parking still available.

You might wonder what I am studying this late in life. The fact is: they're studying me!.. I am a volunteer senior in a cognitive function reduction with age survey/experiment (?). They check smarty-pants University students who know all the answers against us oldies (who've forgotten everything we don't need) to let them know what their grand kids can expect from them when they are three or four times their current age. As you might expect, finding my brain was the first challenge.

O'Larry the Clown

As a relief/reward I unleashed O'Larry the Clown for a run. My alter ego has undergone a name change since I arrived in the United States. In Australia he was “Leftover Larry”.

This is the first country I have been in where people (and not just children) are afraid of clowns, and so many productions have ghastly clowns as the baddies. Imagine me handing a balloon masterpiece to a child, with my Aussie moniker, only to be greeted with a raucous scream.

O'Larry” allows for recovery after their observation of “what did you do with your legs?” (They've stayed home to watch TV, of course). Used to be “slow swimming in a fast shark pool”.

All good things tend to come to an end... Back to the joys of work ~ with a bit of face paint still obvious to remind me of happier times. Even the left over red on my fingers is sure to come off during washing up tonight.

And so, on to my emails, and I find this.

member spotlight

A wonderful surprise after a full day. Active Rain has become an integral part of my life, my continued learning and my virtual study of this land. Many times I have noted Spotlight-ed Members, read their posts, and have subscribed to them. And what a boost to my traffic... I do not have a clue how people are chosen, and I am suitably bashful. (in case it might be a happy error). Sandy UT is on the map! Bewdy.

And we yet have more in the day: the full moon, an eclipse, and a Mega Jackpot still to to go. We're on a roll, Mate. Still don't have a ticket, but...

November 28, a satisfying day.

Larry, way to go! Congratulations for the member spotlight, you deserve it. And doesn't it just figure you are a clown on top of everything else!

Your attitude is infectious!

Hi Larry, I hopped over here from the member spotlight and am sure glad I did. Sounds like you packed a whole lot into your day today; sure hope you bought the winning lottery ticket as well!  Nice to (sort of) meet you!

I was under the impression fear of clowns was actually a known phobia but how weird would that be if it were only in this country? Let us know how you do in that study. My son loves to tease me about all the brain cells we lose as we age. I think we remember what we think is important.

Andrea - you say such nice things;  thank you. Clowning has gotten me over lots of things.  It tends to get me out of myself.  You can get away with a lot dressed as a clown.

Julie - Thanks for making the trip.  I expect to become familiar with your part of the country through your Localism blogs. Unfortunately the Lotto will bypass me as UT does not have access. From my writing you will gather that I like where I live.

Jill - you are certainly right, but I avoid all doctors with a passion. You might look up Dr "Patch" Adams for a view of clowns as therapy. Keep the young ones confused ~smile a lot.

Wayne - Always do. I usually take one day at a time ~ sometimes several of them gang up on me at once.

Hi Larry.  I don't know how hard it was to find your brain, but I'm confident they'd have no problem finding your heart  : )

Dianne - Forgetfulness is not a stress factor. Getting everything done that I think should be done is a little more challenging. Sometimes it's "Get up, Dress up, and Show up". At least that puts me in the game. Thanks for your nice words.
