29 Palms HS Graduate to Join Astronaut Hall of Fame

Bryan D. O'Connor, a graduate of Twentynine Palms High School, will be inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame this year.  O,Connor, a retired Marine Corps colonel, was pilot on STS-61B, the second ever night shuttle  launch, and was commander on STS-40.  To be eligible, an astronaut must have made his or her first flight at least 17 years before the induction year, and must be reitired at least 5 years from NASA's astronaut corps.
