Dear TZ - What are the Boundaries to my Property?

Dear TZ,

Is the fence the boundary between my property and my neighbor's?

Dear Billy,

If you think a neighbor is encroaching on your land, please act quickly. If you allow them to put a fence or structure, or even a garden, or your property, you may in fact be losing the rights to that property in the future.

The deed to your home will contain a description of your property, including its measurements. Then, you can measure from the landmarks, such as your house, to the property lines.

You can also acquire a map showing your property lines at the county recorder's office and the assessor's office in your area.

If you need a more exact determination, you will need to hire a licensed land surveyor. They can place official markers on your boundary lines.

Good luck!

OR, you just may own that fence that the neighbor built on your property.

You're right, Lenn, which is why people need to locate their boundaries.

Good morning, Zuhl Team.... it's very important to have an instrument survey done on your property, especially before you put up a fence...

Good morning Barbara and Ed - we had a tree fall on our neighbor's property. Our survey, luckily for us, showed that the tree belonged to the neighbor.
