Go Ahead and Push My Button...I Double-Dog Dare You!!

YAHHHH, that's right...go ahead! I double-dog dare you to push my button!!

Double Dog Dare

OK, I just had to include the A Christmas Story photo from the "double-dog dare you" scene. This is a classic holiday-comedy film and thinking about it makes me smile.

Onto my story...

This morning I shed a tear.  No, it wasn't the sad kind, it was the 'you caught me off-guard' kinda emotion which caused a warm one to trickle slowly down my face. A client texted me a short time ago to let me know she appreciated my efforts and help. It's always one of my favorite moments of the day!

Showing appreciation to others is one of the biggest buttons I like to push. I especially love it when others push mine too! The thing is, a kind gesture doesn't cost anyone a dime and the small effort to give another person one or two thankful words equals less than a few breaths.

We live in a fast-paced world of technology updates and new smart-phone application downloads (you know those cool apps, the ones which you didn't realize you were out-of-the loop on, once again!). I sometimes think people are waaaaay too caught up in their own tiny bubble of life and are gradually losing small bits of personal awareness.  You see this self-encapsulated existence everywhere and you know what I mean.  It's the slow dissolution of one-to-one personable exchanges...perhaps caused by people's shortened attention spans or other reasons.  There sometimes seems to be less time made for pleasantries and simple exchanges of Pleases and Thank Yous.  I'd love to see more appreciation shown between people...it really matters!

Showing appreciation by giving a few words of gratitude especially makes a difference. It's the simple things in life which truly count, wouldn't you agree?

Oh yah, I almost forgot. Why shed a tear you ask? Easy answer: my button was pushed...

So go ahead...Push my button, I double-dog dare you!!

Cheers & Happy Button Pushing... :)

Very nice, Kathleen ... you are so correct about the technology of today that has a tendancy of removing the "emotional" element out of our contacts.  It is great to get a response from a client of appreciation!!  Love the Christmas Story!!

Kathleen, I would like to show you my appreciation and say "Thank You" for sharing your story and your thoughts, you're right about us getting caught up in our bubbles of life and forget the most simple of gestures. May you and yours have a most wonderful day and Wonderful Holiday Season, best wishes Bob.

Hello Kathleen: it looks like I will have to press a number of buttons ( or at least key board keys) to help press yours.  Small items of appreciation not delivered via technology are well remembered.

Thank You Dan, Bob and Brian! Your efforts to press a few keys on your computer (in response) are appreciated by me! I do think technology and connecting with others in a more personal way can live side-by-side. More  and more, I feel that the trend towards simplifying life seems increasiningly desirable and perhaps it's a back to basics approach which gets noticed more readily.  And as you mentioned Bob, it's simple gestures these days which are remembered the most!

Kathleen, you're absolutely right. Showing gratitude and offering a sincere "thank you" does wonders. I could be wrong, but I thought it was a triple dog dare?

Thank you Joan! Gratitude is important to show year-round! Appreciate your comment...Happy Holidays!

Hi Eric...LOL, yes, you are correct, but the dare began as a double-dog dare!! I felt I'd be able to get away with either choice! Thanks for stopping by and knowing your A Christmas Story trivia! :D
