Dehydration...Not just a human problem!

With the Flu season we hear "Drink a lot of Fluids!"

This is true and the same goes for just everyday living.  more issues are caused by dehydration than anything else.

But, it isn't just us humans that can suffer.  Our pets that are tied and do not have access to water are also at risk.  The colder it gets, the more fluids they need.  Water is needed to keep the bodies blood moving for warmth.

Lets take this one step farther...Our friendly critters of Mother Nature.  When the cold get's below freezing it is hard for the birds and animals to find water.

A heated bird bath is one solution or just setting out fresh water twice a day can give our animal friends a boost.

With a little thought, water can bring in some great viewing for this winter season.

The birds are flocking to our backyard water feature.  I had not thought about Dixie and the birds needing more water during the winter months.  Thanks!

With all of the rain we have had for the past two weeks, I hadn't even thought of this. Thanks for the reminder!

William, I keep water in my bird bath all year round.  Even when it is raining I fill it with fresh water.  The precious animals need food and water all year long ... just like we do.  Very thoughtful post - thank you.

Bill...

That's a great idea. We have had a dry fall and I have been putting water out for the wildlife in the yard.

Thanks for giving the tip about heated bird baths, Bill.  It is important right now, especially with no snow.

Bill, this is a great reminder.  And, while we can still water the indoor plants, Connie, our ground is now frozen and will soon be topped with 7 to 8 inches of snow!

Dehydration is a mojor cause of frost bite and even just getting chilled when in the cold.
