US home prices have risen 6.3% compared to this time last year and are reported to be the largest gain since July 2006. Portland, Oregon prices are up 4.5% over this time last year and up slightly from last month. We are not following the trend of a slight national decline from September. With home prices rising, buyers are making offers while considering the possibility prices may continue to rise. Home sellers are encouraged and feeling better about listing their homes and seeing a better gain. Of course, interest rates are very low so that helps both buyers and sellers when financing is involved. Are we in recovery? Many believe we are.
