Don't Be Fooled By Deed Processing Notification Scam

By
Real Estate Agent with Integrity Real Estate Group

Recently two of my clients received official looking documents in the mail suggesting they needed to pay $83.00 to get a copy of their deed.  Since both had closed on homes in the last month they were puzzled.

Thankfully they called me before they sent off a check.  In Northern Virginia your official deed comes to you after settlement from the title company who conducted your settlement.  Generally it arrives within 4-6 weeks.  If you lost your original deed you can go to the courthouse and get a new one.

Please don't get taken in by the latest scam to separate you from your hard earned money.

I am so sick of CARPET BAGGERS trying to separate folks from their hard earned money! I wish there was something more the authorities could do about issues like this.

Cindy, These are going on everywhere and I have had calls from my clients about this very thing. I think I will start telling them at closing to not be duped and ignore it.

Cindy, it seems like there is a new scam every week and unfortunately many of them are not illegal.
