Give the Gift of Reading

Encouraging a child's love of reading is one of the greatest gifts that you could give a child.  Even when kids find Give the gift of readingreading a daunting task, developing that love for reading is a gift that pays tremendous dividends.

Barnes and Noble Bookstore and California Pizza Kitchen (the Summit and Galleria locations) are aiding in the cause.  From December 10-14, 2012, simply go to Barnes and Noble Bookstore and purchase a children's or young adult book (you'll need to present this voucher).  A percentage of your book purchase will be donated to the Libraries of Jefferson County.

Then head on over to California Pizza and drop off the book(s).  While you're there, enjoy a magnificent meal, present this voucher and 20% of your check will be donate to the Libraries of Jefferson County

Books will be donated and dropped of at the YWCA Santa's Workshop on December 14, 2012.

Give the Gift of Reading while spreading joy and promoting literacy.  Wow!!!!!  What a gift.

After all, Reading is Fundamental.

That is a terrific idea that Barnes and Nobles along with California Pizza Kitchen is doing to give the gift of reading.  Reading has gone by they wayside with all the fast and instantaneous gratification the Internet gives.  It would be nice to see it come back full swing...I, for one, LOVE reading.

Great post and like Carol... I love to read and I love giving books to others... All children should be given the gift of reading at a young age..

Happy Day

I couldn't agree with you more.  I have been giving my OWN daughter a book or two for Christmas each year thus far.

Carol it's the gift that just keeps giving. Even if it's a Christmas Book, the kids still want to read it or have it read to them all year long. Ho, ho, ho.

I agree Brenda.  Book on Nooks, iPad, Kindle's and the like are just not the same and a real book in hand. That reminds me, I think I'll run out and get some Christmas books before Tristan gets back this evening.

Dave I like the idea of Kindle books and I have a friend that swears by them.  Me, personally, I haven't finished a book yet that I started on Kindle.  Kids on the other hand, especially bigger kids, love being able to read books on Kindle.

At a very early age Richard and Beth

Cheryl, at 4 years old, my grandson loves going to the library and I LOVE that.

Charita~ I've always had a love for reading.  My oldest granddaughter has the same love.  I'm always buying books for my grandkids.  I encourage reading in their young lives whenever and however I can!

Charita,

Love this sharing for the kids and reading.  One of my best memories with our three kids is watching them learn to read.

All the best, Michelle

As a child I loved reading and teachers always gave prizes to the ones that read the most books and gave book reports. They don't do that anymore.

Joe there are so many things that teachers and schools don't do anymore. I have similar memories. I can also remember the thrill of being Spelling Bee champ at my school several years running.
