Many first time home owners bought a home in 2009 and 2010 using the Federal Tax incentive that was given. The incentive varied on certain criteria, but went as high as $8000. This credit was one that did not have to be repaid as long as a certain length of time of home ownership and occupancy was met. For many buyers that bought in 2009, they are coming up on the completion of the required 36 month period of primary home occupancy and if they so choose could begin to consider selling their home and not having to repay the tax credit.
