Managing Real Estate Broker with Magnolia Realty ~ Granbury TREC #547752

Southern Home

For those of you who are fans of the classic movie "Gone With The Wind", Scarlett O'Hara has a famous quote where she says , " I'll think about that tomorrow".   I have always loved this saying for a variety of reasons.  Sometimes when I just don't have an answer right then or there or I am simply overwhelmed, this is my fall back line.

Now of course I can't use this line as an excuse to escape difficult challenges, but it can help me have the time to regroup, think and to make a plan.  It is never a good idea to answer questions that you aren't sure about with an answer that may be lacking in accurate information.   Also I find that a stressful situation is often a good time to take some time to assess how you will handle it.

For those of us in real estate, every day and each transaction is different and many times met with challenges and questions.  An off the cuff response might not always be the best route to take.  Needing to do some research and getting back to people is best when you don't have all of the facts.

So when you hear me say, "I'll think about that tomorrow" doesn't mean I am brushing you off, it simply means I am working on a solution or gathering information.  Presenting good information is so important in our business.

Miss O'Hara might have been avoiding difficult situations however, as your agent you can know that I am working on getting my clients the best information and the best solution to their questions and roadblocks in a real estate transaction.  Give me a call today and I will let you know if I need to get back with you and I will!

Chevaux Group is dedicated in providing to our clients the best real estate service around.  Give us a call today!  We look forward to assisting you!

Paula, great analogy of "I'll think about that tomorrow" saying the right verbiage and being honest is the key to a great real estate agent and sometimes we just don't have n answer at that very moment. By the way, I love you slogan. "Have you fully lived today?"

Paula- This is great advice, I'd much rather track down the right answer than spout something off. Same for anyone giving me an answer to something. Now, I'll have to go watch the movie again...never caught that!

Paula, that is one of my favorite movies and I like how you've given new meaning to that line. I will always admit to a client when I don't know or I'm not sure of the answer and tell them that I will do the research and get back to them. People appreciate the honesty.

Thanks Paula, its been over thirty years since I read that book, did not remember that line.  It is a good thought to postpone a decision until more info can be gathered or until the stress level is lowered.

Many times we need "until tomorrow" to consult with others, or contact the appropriate professional for relevant information. Clients are generally thankful for the information, direction, or resource.

I guess it's better than Snoopy's saying "Why do something today when you can put it off until tomorrow".

Great post Paula - my favorite line in the movie continues to be "I don't know nothing 'bout birthing no babies, Miz Scarlett!" and I was thrilled to be able to use in in EMT class a few months ago.

Dear Paula,

Something that is difficult to think through after a long day with many unrelated problems becomes a breeze the following morning after some sleep. You may think, your brain it resting, but it may be busy working through your conundrum. When tomorrow arrives, you have already done the heavy lifting and only need to work out the details.

I'll just think about that tomorrow is much better than saying "Frankly my Dear I don't give a Damn"

That is a great movie - never get tired of seeing it.  The clothes are the best ever, especially the red dress Scarlett wore to Ashley's Birthday party.

Interesting perspective and comments, yet I would be reluctant to reply to a challenging question with your favorite response. Whenever anybody has a challenging question, I always want to know why that question is important to them, so that I answer all of their issues and concerns concisely and comprehensively. Regardless, if it works for you, great.

Paula, this is indeed a great line. Things tend to change and very often "tomorrow" gives us totally different perspectives.

Do nothing, and especially say nothing, in haste. BTW - I'm commenting from Jonesboro GA today, home of the "real" Tara (the real house the fictional Tara was patterned after acording to local lore).

Good morning Paula McDonald ,

I'm so glad Praful Thakkar  resurrected this post from 2012! Still applicable today. I loved "Gone with the Wind" and actually was disappointed when I finished the book!

Oddly enough you just reminded me of a project on my desk that I have to "think about" this morning. Praful's reblog got me here.

I had an Aunt who worked on the set of Gone with the Wind.  She instructed Vivian Lee is "southern speak"

Looks like this was an oldie but a goodie that Praful Thakkar shone some light on recently in a re-blog post. I have to agree, that my response is often, "great question, let me confirm the answer with my trusted source and I'll get back to you on that tomorrow, if not later today."
