Las Noches de Las Luminarias

The Desert Botanical Garden celebrates 35 years of the popular holiday-lights series.  More than 8,000 hand-lit luminaria bags line the trails and pathways of the garden, inspired by the Mexican holiday tradition. 

Ten musicians and performers entertain throughout the garden each evening, including Dickens Carolers, Big Nick & the Gila Monsters and J.T’s Island Steel.  Make an evening of it and buy tickets for the buffet or order a la carte at the Patio Café.  Bars scattered around the garden will serve holiday-themed cocktails and spiked hot drinks.

Details:  5:30pm-9:30pm, Fridays – Sundays, December 14-23 and 26-30.  Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 N Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, $25, $12.50 for ages 3-12.

 

All About the Holidays

The fall series culminates with a December family event that celebrates our favorite holiday stories. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be there for pictures. Plus, piles of snow, entertainment, holiday shopping, crafts and kids activities will highlight this event.

Phoenix Tequila Festival

The Phoenix Tequila Festival returns for its fourth year at US Airways Center, featuring more than 100 tequila varieties, mariachi music, tastings from the Margarita Challenge winner and an appearance by rapper Xzibit, who will debut his tequila brand Bonita.

Details:  1-5p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Dec 15-16.  US Airways Center, Second and Jefferson streets, Phoenix $45.  Must be 21 or older

 

Glendale Glitters
The holiday magic continues in downtown Glendale Friday and Saturday evenings through Dec.15, from 6-10 p.m. each night, with 1.5 million dazzling lights, free admission and fun for the whole family. For more information, call the Special Event Hotline at 623-930-2299.

Jingle Bell Rockin’ Nights (Dec. 14 & 15): Jingle Bell Rockin’ Nights is all about the music and rockin’ out! Fun entertainment will include energetic dance performances on the Amphitheatre Stage and the Glendale Union High School District Vocal Ensemble Showcase. Peppermint James will be performing in the park on Friday night and Saturday night Radio80s, an 80s cover band that will perform the rock and pop genre of music from the 80s era. Of course, the event will also feature a Great selection of food and beverages, including gourmet food trucks, horse and carriage rides, kids inflatable rides, pony rides and miniature pony carriage rides, a zip line and visits with Santa Claus.

A Broadway Christmas Carol

The Arizona Broadway Theatre in Peoria presents “ A Broadway Christmas Carol” a retelling of classic “A Christmas Carol” through music from Broadway favorites.

Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim sing their way through Christmases past, present and future through tunes from Broadway shows, including “Annie” “My Fair Lady”, “Oklahoma!” and “Cats.” 

Details: 7:30p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13; 7:30p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 and Dec.21; 2 and 7:30p.m. Saturday Dec. 15, Sunday Dec. 16 and Dec. 23.  Arizona Broadway Theatre, 7701 W Paradise Lane, Peoria.  $39-$46 for lunch or dinner and show, $24-$31 for show only.  623-776-8400.
