Picadillo

2  lbs.  ground turkey or lean beef

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

2 cloves garlic, chopped fine

1 green bell pepper, finely chopped

1 medium onion chopped

4 tsp. chili powder

2 tsp. oregano

1 ½ tsp. cumin

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 can chopped tomatoes, drained

½ cup chopped pitted green olives

Salt and pepper

Optional:  cooked white rice

In a large skillet heat olive oil, add onion, green pepper and garlic.  Sautee until onion is transparent.  Add ground turkey or beef and brown well, making sure to break up large pieces.  Add canned tomatoes, spices and tomato paste.  Stir to combine.  Cover and reduce heat to low and simmer mixture for approx. 20 minutes.  Add olives.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.  Simmer for another 5 minutes.  If picaillo is to watery,  remove lid and simmer for 5 more minutes.

Serve with white rice

Sounds like a good recipe.  I like this... I think I will try it.  It sounds pretty quick and easy.

A quick and easy meal...that's exactly what I like to cook.  If it takes more than 30 minutes to prepare, it won't be served in my kitchen....
